How to identify fake lovers of art
People don't appreciate art. That is a truth. And by appreciation, I do not mean " oh you paint so well!!" . By appreciation I mean someone who understands me and my art. Most people don't understand and simply diss me by saying " This is too good, her mom must have made it" or "she must have copied" . Even if I copied it is totally my effort and skill to be able to copy nicely. Old ladies and their banter. Also what is the meaning of "₹xxx is too much, just give it to us for less" .
WHAT!! AM I SELLING VEGETABLES HERE???.
Some people do mean well but make these mistakes which make them seem uninterested or bored or just simply wannabe connoisseurs.
1: IF SOMEONE DISCUSSES THEIR ART DONT START OFF ABOUT HOW "YOUR NEPHEW ALSO PAINTS WELL"
Indians have this amazing habit of comparing. "Ay! How much did you get?" "You write? My chacha ka ladka also writes! He even won a prize!!"
NO!
Sometimes, it's better to just be a listener.
2: DONT ASK THE PRICE AND BITCH ABOUT IT LATER.
DONT DO THIS!
A lot of people ask the prices and later go about saying "Who does she think she is?" "That price is ridiculously expensive ". No!
Paints are expensive. Brushes are expensive. Canvases are expensive. Time and effort is expensive.
3: "VERY GOOD!! YOUR DAUGHTER IS ALREADY EARNING!!"
No!!! Art isn't about selling. Art is about art. Is that so hard to grasp?
4: "I WANT TO WATCH YOU PAINTING SOMETIME."
This isn't really bad but a lot of artists would object to it unless you're their really close friend/relative.
NEVER SAY THIS TO AN ARTIST YOU MET FOR THE FIRST TIME. They are not some cheap entertainment.
5: ART IS PRAYER.
Never say "should I touch it with my feet ?" Or kick around bottles of paint. Not even as a joke.
Regardless of my writing all this ,there are still people who would do these kinds of things. God give them some brains!!
Love
Vai and Kai
