D.I.Y. Tuesday!!!

So! Hello there! I'm Vai and .......
Today I don't feel like posting photos coz I'm still thinking about all that happened yesterday.
We finally finished with our last exam yesterday and so I called my good friends Niu-Nyah and Emma from http://www.latteelovee.wordpress.com/!
Sooooooooooooo.......
We had nothing else to do and so I showed them my wonderful phone which I painted my self!

So, they told me "why don't u put this on your blog?"
And then I was like" No! My blog is a photo blog! Only photos!"
But they managed to pursuade me to do this so finally! Here it is! 


Method!
Get the phone you want to paint. (obvio)
Paint it over with a colour you like. I used acrylic because my nail polish was rubbing right off.

Think of a design you want on it. It's better to make something geometric since obviously lines are easier to draw than curves and circles. (I know the even circles are geometric shapes but who cares?)

Try to draw it freehand.DO NOT USE TAPE!!! The color will just stick to the tape and come right off.As I'm an artist I could draw straight lines very well and I like how it turned out.

Then........ I got bored of straight lines and decided to make a cute kawaii face!!!
I didn't want to take a risk so I cut out two circles and draw on them. I also cut out ze smile.
And I stuck it on with normal PVA glue.
And that's it!

 Varnish or glaze it or just let it be! (I didn't varnish mine coz I didn't have clear varnish at home I just had the brown one.)
And your cute kawaii phone is ready for use!!



PS: I hate my puiyan(iPad) sometimes. It kept changing the "kawaii face" to "Jawali face"! :/

Derek Murray and Selfie consumerism in the Narcissistic Age

In Derek Murray’s essay on the selfie, he focuses largely on the ill effects of the selfie on young women and also looks at the affliction to take selfies in contrast to narcissism. While also being a advocate for the advancement of technology and being aware that the selfie provides and indispensable alternative to self love and self healing, Murray being a man, cannot surmise just what exactly selfie taking brings to the young adult. Derek compares the act of taking selfies with a kind of narcissistic personality forgetting the fact that most of his statistics seem to be those taken from men rather than women, and from relatively poorer countries rather than the first world country he is from. In doing so, a really important question is brought to mind; does the fact that Derek himself is neither of these things, affect his judgement? Amerika (2019)

Jorge Méndez Blake is a Mexican mixed-media conceptual artist. Trained as an architect, the artist builds walls and connects their history to literature. He lives and works in Guadalajara, Mexico.
